Winners from Guernsey Careers & Skills Show announced

Ravenscroft was one of 70 employers and learning providers at the Careers & Skills Show at Beau Sejour in December.

As well as highlighting the variety of roles on offer at Ravenscroft, we also ran a competition. Staff from our Human Resources, Discretionary, Dealing, Corporate Finance, Client Services and Precious Metals teams invited the hundreds of youngsters who attended the show to guess whether the spot price of gold would increase or decrease by the 15th December PM Fix.

Entrants were also asked to give their reasons for their decision with a prize for the best answers. The Ravenscroft team also brought a 1kg bar of gold along for the attendees to have a look at and hold.

Of the 309 entrants, 21% predicted the gold price would decrease and 79% predicted an increase. An impressive 87% of the entrants also gave reasons for their decision which proved interesting to read.

The price of gold had a 0.32% decrease, so 65 entrants were put into a draw and a winner was randomly chosen to win a 0.1oz Gold Krugerrand coin worth over £150! The winner was Harry Newton from Elizabeth College (pictured centre with Stewart Moyles from our precious metals team and Jason Shambles from HR).

The Precious Metals team then selected what they thought were the three best answers for why a decision was made. These winners were Jake Van der Linden from St Sampson’s High School, Evie Pellett from Ladies College and Kieran Marley from La Mare De Carteret High School.

Each winner gave insightful and well thought out answers and have each won a JBL Mini Speaker. For more information about working at Ravenscroft, click here go to our Careers page and for more information on our precious metals offering click here.
